In this essay, the views of Shia jurists on the occasion that a man looks at a woman, intending to marry her have been visualised under three
rei avant views, considering respective proofs as well. However, given another view indicated by the Holy Prophet, we distinguish that he has not
decreed on the issue directly; instead, by permitting the matter of looking in general, he, in a more extended criterion than the matter of looking at a
foreigner woman, has put the decision on the part of custom. That is to say, instead of litigation he has validated the wise deduction of Muslim
community in this respect.
Muslims, based on their inference from the principals of Islam
concerning chastity, must confine the relationship between the man and
the woman to the extent that the Prophet's purpose of getting familiar with and growing fond of each other could be achieved.
