According to free will principle, man is responsible for his acts and
will be punished according to them. So that some punishments are
determined in Islam for acts contrary to the religious law and for each
crime one strict punishment is determined. So that if someone commits
a crime by his free will and choice, like committing adultery,
drinking, theft, abortion .. , he will be punished to the extent
determined. But in some cases there are excuses that discharge the
man and take the punishment away from him; like being under duress.
If the person commits one of these crimes under duress, the
punishment will be taken away from him because duress will exempt
the man from liability.
This article tries to study the duress and if s role in exempting from
liability and discharging from punishment.
