One of the significant issues in Islamic jurisprudence is the discussion of "Irshad al-Jāhil" . Despite the well-known fatwa on the obligation of guiding the ignorant in matters of religious rulings, only a few jurists have issued fatwas on its obligation in matters of subject-matter. The majority of jurists, relying on certain narrations , hold that guiding the ignorant is not obligatory, except in critical cases such as preserving life. This research, employing a descriptive-analytical method, examines the validity of the arguments from both perspectives. Ultimately, by presenting a challenge to the prevailing fatwa, it concludes that this fatwa is inconsistent with another principle known as the "rule of the obligation to inform the ignorant regarding what is given" . Although a preliminary solution to resolve this contradiction involves interpreting the latter rule as applying to cases of causation , this interpretation faces difficulties, such as its inconsistency with the principle of the dependence of rulings on interests and harms , the obligation of benevolence towards believers , and opposition to certain narrations.
