Abstract

Exegesis or commentary of the Holy scripture is an attempt to infer and unveil the divine purpose, by lelying on the apparent meaning of the God’s words.
The Shiite and sunni sects of Islam have viewpoints in common as regards permitting or not permitting the exgesis or commentary of the Holy scripture.
There are some jurists of either sect who have ruled out commentaries on Koran as unauthorized. How ere, most of them are of the view that the word of God is apprehensible by man, and hence peruit the commentary of Koran.
Acomparison of the evidences raised in support of not authorizing the commentary to two common viewpoints:
There are those who base their argument on the traditions that forbid and warn against arbitrary interpretation of the God’s word, and those who argue that the Koran has its own peculiar way of conveying the divine messages, which varies from the rational dialogues that ar based on the apparent meaning of the words.
Those who ratify the commentary of the Koran have proved, by relying on several and traditions that the Koran’s meghod of addressing is identical to that of the rationalists, and in the light of such argument, unveil the true purpos of those traditions that forbid the interpretation of the Holy scripture
