It claims that the Sharia does not have a ruling on women's clothing, and that the advice in the narrations regarding women's hijab is related to the observance of society's custom, and that free women covered their hair to distinguish themselves from slaves. The author provides historical and jurisprudential evidences to prove his theory. So far, several reviews have been written of the book, but there is not a comprehensive critical analysis of the author's historical and narrative evidences on the issue of women’s hair covering. With an analytical-descriptive method, the arguments of the book are analyzed in the present article and counter-arguments are raised to prove the religious necessity for women to cover their hair. مسئله حجاب از موضوعات چالش برانگیز عصر حاضر است و نویسندگان مختلفی در رد و تایید آن مطالبی را نگاشته‌اند. «حجاب شرعی در عصر پیامبر6» نوشته امیرحسین ترکاشوند با رویکرد نفی الزام حجاب شرعی نوشته شده است. وی مدعی است که شریعت درباره پوشش زنان حکمی ندارد و تاکید روایات بر حجاب بانوان ناظر به رعایت عرف جامعه و نیز تمایز از کنیزان بوده است. تاکنون تحلیلی تفصیلی درباره دیدگاه نویسنده صورت نگرفته است؛ از این‌رو نوشته حاضر، با روش تحلیلی- توصیفی و با استناد به گزارش‌های روایی، تاریخی و فقهی، در پی پاسخ به این سوال است که آیا پوشش موی زنان واجب است؟ نتایج پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که برداشت نویسنده از روایات ناظر به پوشش حضرت زهرا8و زنان حاضر در کربلا، یک‌جانبه و با سیره رفتاری آنها ناسازگار است. شواهد ارائه شده برای عدم وجوب پوشش کنیز، دچار ضعف سندی و یا تعارض با سایر ادله است. تفسیر نویسنده از آیه 59 سوره احزاب نیز افزون بر تضاد با روح مساوات اسلامی، مورد انکار بسیاری از مفسران فریقین است. در پایان، شواهدی چون برداشت معنای پوشش موی سر از واژه «جلباب» توسط عموم مسلمین و روایات فراوانی که در این‌باره وجود دارد، وجوب پوشش سر اثبات شده است.
