The verse provides a single exception—when the woman commits <em>fāḥishah mubayyinah</em> (“a clear act of indecency”). However, jurists differ on the precise meaning of this term, interpreting it variously as offenses against the spouse and family, acts violating sexual chastity, or rebellion against the Imam. Using a descriptive–analytical method and drawing upon Qur’anic verses, transmitted narrations, and the opinions of leading jurists, this study explores these divergent interpretations. It concludes that <em>fāḥishah mubayyinah</em> in the Qur’an signifies any manifestly obscene act prohibited by Islamic law. Nevertheless, within the context of this verse—constituting an exception to the general obligation of residence—the term does not encompass every form of sin. Rather, it specifically refers to conduct that either infringes upon the rights of the husband or family by causing tangible harm, or constitutes an offense subject to <em>ḥadd</em> punishment, requiring the woman’s temporary departure for its enforcement. Consequently, the commission of other sinful acts does not annul the divorced woman’s right to remain in her marital home. یکی از مسائل مورد بحث در انحلال خانواده مسئلة باقی ماندن معتدة رجعیه در منزل طلاق است که بر اساس آیة اول سورة طلاق امری واجب است. بر اساس این آیه، تنها استثنایی که بر این حکم آمده جایی است که زن مرتکب فاحشة مبینه می‌شود. در اینکه فاحشة مبینه چیست اختلاف وجود دارد و دیدگاه‌ها از آزار زوج و خانوادة وی تا ارتکاب جرایم منافی عفت و حتی خروج بر امام متفاوت است. در این نوشتار که به روش توصیفی‌ـ تحلیلی به انجام رسیده است، با استناد به آیات و روایات و نظرات فقهای عظام، به بیان دیدگاه‌ها در مورد فاحشة مبینه می‌شود و به این نتیجه می‌رسد که مراد از فاحشة مبینه در قرآن هر عمل زشت آشکاری است که شرع از آن نهی کرده. اما در خصوص این آیه که تعبیر فوق استثنا بر حکم بقا در منزل طلاق است شامل هر گناهی نیست؛ بلکه مراد گناهانی است که یا حق زوج و اهل او را با ایذا و امثال آن پایمال کند یا گناهانی که مستوجب حد است و باید برای اجرای حد از خانه خارج شود؛ بنابراین با ارتکاب گناهان دیگر حق سکونت وی از بین نمی‌رود. https://jorr.ut.ac.ir/article_105413_4976d0d5ebbf0d14ac8732eb6748ac64.pdf
